Proceso Editorial

Editorial Process and Peer Review

Revista INTEGRACIÓN guarantees a rigorous, transparent, and efficient evaluation process. Below, we detail our workflow in 6 phases.

Phase 1: Reception and Initial Check

⏱ Timeline: 7-10 business days
  • Reception: Automatic notification via OJS and ID assignment.
  • Formal Verification: Format (Word), anonymization, APA 7th ed. citations, and complete metadata.
  • Integrity Control (Plagiarism): Software scan with a maximum similarity threshold of 20%. Exceeding it implies immediate rejection.
  • Desk Reject: The Editor evaluates thematic relevance. Manuscripts out of scope or of low quality are rejected at this stage to expedite the process.

Phase 2: Assignment of Evaluators

⏱ Timeline: 5-7 business days

Selection of at least two external experts based on:

  • Demonstrated expertise and previous publications.
  • Absence of conflicts of interest (institutional or personal).
  • History of quality and punctuality.

Phase 3: Double-Blind Evaluation

⏱ Timeline: 21-28 days

Peers evaluate the anonymized manuscript assessing:

  • Originality and contribution to the field.
  • Methodological rigor.
  • Quality of argumentation and writing.
  • Timeliness of references.

Phase 4: Editorial Decision

⏱ Timeline: 5-7 business days

Based on the verdicts, the Editor issues a decision:

  • Acceptance: No changes.
  • Minor Changes: Author has 15 days for corrections.
  • Major Changes (Resubmit): Author has 30-45 days. May require a second round of evaluation.
  • Rejection: The manuscript is not accepted.
*Right to appeal: The author may present a reasoned rebuttal if they disagree with the decision.

Phase 5 & 6: Verification and Production

⏱ Production: 4-6 weeks
  • Verification: Checking compliance with requested changes.
  • Style Correction: Normative and grammatical adjustment.
  • Galley Proofs (Layout): The author receives the final PDF and has 5 days to approve it.
  • Publication: DOI assignment, indexing, and dissemination.

⚠️ Important Policies:

  • Funding: Authors external to USO must have publication permission from their funding institution if a grant was involved.
  • Responsibility: Authors assume full responsibility for authorship conflicts or third-party rights.
  • The journal reserves the right of final decision based on arbitration.
