Abstract
Disenchantment and Utopia: Education in the Labyrinth of New Times by Pablo Gentili is a text whose objective is to unravel many myths regarding education as the sole solution to all the problems of Latin American society. Education is a fundamental element in every society, aiming to provide human beings with the knowledge to live in a better and more just society, but it is not solely responsible for reducing social inequalities; therefore, it must be accompanied by social policies capable of providing a comprehensive education for young people, equipping them with the necessary tools to change their reality. Therefore, this review seeks to conduct a critical analysis of the text, highlighting the main ideas held by the author, which are complemented by other contributions from social scientists, with the intention of understanding the role of education in society.
