Abstract

This research article focuses on the feasibility study for the equipment of Laboratory No. 2 (L2) at the University of Sonsonate, where the practical component of the course "Industrial Technology II" is conducted. It examines the feasibility of implementing conventional machining tools and computer numerical control (CNC) machines in the facility. The main objective is to conduct a strategic analysis and assess financial considerations to determine the viability of establishing a laboratory equipped with both types of machines. The study covers several aspects, including market demand, required infrastructure, acquisition and maintenance costs of CNC machines, as well as potential benefits and limitations associated with such an investment. Laboratories equipped with these types of machinery play a fundamental role in training and research in the fields of manufacturing and engineering. This article aims to examine the necessary equipment to establish an effective machine laboratory. It also analyzes issues related to maintenance and cost. The ultimate goal is to provide a practical guide for those seeking to establish or improve a machine and tool laboratory. The equipment of both conventional and CNC machines is a topic of interest in the manufacturing industry. This article aims to evaluate the feasibility of equipping a laboratory with both types of machines. Case studies, previous research, and expert opinions in the field are analyzed. The results indicate that this equipment can be a viable option in certain scenarios, but there are also important limitations and considerations that must be taken into account.
